          In the Garden of Stars, the player must perform sequences of actions (rain, sun, seeds...) on the boxes that surround him so that he can plant flowers.

         This is my very first video game. I made it alone from A to Z in about 2 months. Designed for an experience of fifteen minutes, it is played with only 1 button and is intended above all poetic.

          The Garden of Stars is a One Button Game of puzzle/management in which we embody a kind of gardener making flower beds to care for his wife.

          I wanted to create a game that was as close to me as possible, although I was technically limited by my knowledge at the time. So I tried to create a rich gameplay, although playable with a single button, and a special atmosphere that would evolve as the player progresses.

Pitch document

          The Garden of Stars is a One Button Game of puzzle/management in which we embody a kind of gardener making flower beds to care for his wife.

​          As I only had 2 weeks to imagine a concept and create a playable prototype I started writing the documents very early. The goal: to highlight the main lines of the experience I wanted to create and establish a kind of main path to follow and to rely on during production.

         There are some small differences between one document and another which show that the Game design was not completely settled yet.

          The Garden of Stars is a One Button Game of puzzle/management in which we embody a kind of gardener making flower beds to care for his wife.

          Regarding the level design, I was able to create 3 levels. I paid special attention to the tutorial to be sure that players would be familiar with the controls. So I cut the first level into 3 distinct parts, each teaching the player a different pattern or goal.

         I chose to translate the design of the events into hard-to-reach areas, forcing the player to reserve his resources to have enough once on the right box.

         My goal was to give the player the impression that he should spend his resources intelligently, sometimes with parsimony and sometimes without any restraint.

          The Garden of Stars is a One Button Game of puzzle/management in which we embody a kind of gardener making flower beds to care for his wife.

​          Since I had to do this project entirely alone, I also took care of the feedbacks and signs. I designed some pretty rudimentary interfaces and focused on the visual effects.

         Using the particle system built into Unity, I was able to create some visual effects that allow the player to understand what they did and also reward them for doing it. 

         For sound effects and background music, I used royalty-free sounds. I tried to have as much as possible so the player does not get tired of them.

Rays of light appear gradually at the launch of a level.

The watering can makes water fall and changes the color of the boxes according to the water they receive.

The sun makes small glitter fall and leaves some on the ground.
